Hunger...Week 3

"Hunger" That is the challenge for week 3 of 52 Wrinkles in Time. This can be such a broad topic this week that I can't wait to see what people have to post! What does the topic of hunger really mean?? If you think about it, it can mean so many things. As I am sitting here typing this, my 6 year old is crying about how hungry he is for a snack! Now, I could just leave it at that and everyone can say, wow, what a mean mom, won't stop typing to get her child a snack, feed the poor kid! I mean, that's what I would say, if I was just sitting there reading this. However, what I fail to tell you leading up to that statement, is my son just had a snack, and that dinner is in an hour, and that he really isn't hungry to the point where he is skin and bones, 3-world style hungry, he merely just wants more junk food so that he can sit at the dinner table and complain he is full and not eat what is actually healthy for him to eat. Because, come on, we can all admit it...graham crackers taste soooo much better then broccoli!! But that is a perfect example of being hungry!! My son really isn't hungry and starving for some nutrients...he really just wants junk food because it is so delicious.

How much further can you extend this topic this week?? Composition (for those non-photography guru's out there...means just what you are taking a picture of) can be key to this weeks challenge. A homeless person on the street is hungry for food, a leaf turned up to the sun is hungry for the sun, a child asking their parent why, why, why 500 times is hungry for knowledge, and a person chasing after the boy/girl that they desire is hungry for love (and also could be considered a stalker!!). You can be hungry for so many different things, and that hunger can change so often that capturing it in a picture is the only way you are going to remember that you were so hungry for it at one point.

What are your inner desires? Are you mainly driven by one thing that you are so hungry to preserve and hold?? Is it food that comes to mind when talking about being hungry? That absolute one thing that never lets you down (unless it tastes disgusting!!!). Some people use food to replace emotions, to give them that comforting feeling, to be anything but hungry in life. Are you a child that over uses the word and doesn't really understand what hunger is all about, or even worse a child that knows all too well what hunger is about?

This week we really take a leap from the fun part of composing a topic, to the need to really use your imagination and bring your pictures to a whole new level! I can't wait to see everyone's pictures! Happy clicking everyone :)
