So I have to admit, life took over, things became crazy, my mind got jumbled and I feel off the blog wagon for a bit. BUTTTT do not be afraid or sad and certainly don't fret, because I AM BACK! Woohoo.
Ok, probably not that exciting for you as it is for me, but I'm just going to pretend that you are sitting there jumping for joy like I just gave you the best birthday present in the whole world! :)
So here we go....
This week, or what's left of the week, I think we need to take a minute to pray for the victims of Boston and Texas. What has happened to those victims, the families of the victims, and our country in general is so sad and unnecessary. They all deserve a piece of our hearts and prayers.
Bombings at marathons and everyday jobs, shootings of innocent children, and conspiracy theories tearing people apart, is what our country has become. It is the world that my son has to grow up in. How do you explain to a child that these evils are out there and he should beware? We just had another talk on "Stranger Danger" this past weekend and I don't think I could stress how important it is to stay close to mommy. Those are not things I want to stress on in his life. But, unfortunately, they are so necessary.
When I was his age, I remember walking with my brother and/or cousins by ourselves through the woods at my grandparents. Or walking down to the creek to play, or just walking around the block. We spent our childhoods outside exploring. If it was nice out, and we were inside watching t.v. for more than an hour, I remember my grandmother shooing us outside to play! There was no threat of danger, no thought that someone would kidnap us. It was just children being innocent and enjoying life. Things just aren't like that anymore and I don't understand why.
For this week, I think that I'm going to stray from the list a bit, which is fine since we've been slackers for the last couple weeks (Do you see how I have thrown the word "we" in there, taking away the blame on myself for being a slacker, when what I really should have said is that "I" am the big slacker here!!) and I'm going to change the theme for the last four days of this week. I would love it if everyone found an image or a thought, capture a scene or a memory, and show us what Innocence means to you. Is it your child's smile, a new born deer stumbling in the woods, a new flower budding up for in the new spring season? Is it people walking down the street to their jobs, rehearsing their daily routines that they have fallen into, or maybe something more? Something stronger, more filled with emotion.
We all need to remember that the our country was once so strong and united. That it IS still a strong and united country. We were founded on beliefs that we had freedoms, liberties, and the want and desire to have a life that was happy and loved. Nothing has changed over the last 200+ years that made people want different. We need to stop fighting each other, and blaming each other for what we think is wrong. Live your life and be happy, enjoy the ones you love, laugh when you can, cry when you have to and most importantly...smile.
So find the innocence that makes you strong and that makes you smile. Capture it in a moment and post it for us all to see. Post it here, hash tag us on Instagram #52wrinklesintime, or find us on Facebook and post your picture there, 52 Wrinkles in time, Facebook page. Can't wait to see what your innocence is!
As always... HAPPY CLICKIN!!!! :)
